The excursion to the West Coast of the United States of America that students take part in at the conclusion of their study on the faculty, has become an annual tradition.
The goal of the excursion, this year's twelfth in a row, is to establish contacts with world-renowned companies and universities and learn their way of business, organization and work. We will learn important new knowledge, skills and experiences, which will help us when applying for a job in Slovenian companies. Our excursion starts in March 2012 and will last about six weeks. We will meet with representatives of leading computer companies and their development centers. Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Oracle and HP are just some of the companies we will visit during our trip. They are considered to be top IT companies and trend setters in this industry. We will also visit a few world-renowned universities, where we intend to learn about their study program and habits and attend lectures of some very known lecturers.
After our return to Slovenia we are going to share experiences gained on the excursion with other Slovenian students and company representatives. This excursion is also an excellent opportunity to promote Slovenia and its technological companies in the US and making contacts with US companies for further cooperation between both countries in the field of IT. It will also contribute to a tighter collaboration between our homeland companies and the faculty.

Information Science Students Association (ISSA) is a non-profit association of students of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana. The association was founded with the intention of offering senior students insight into the world-renowned IT companies and universities, where they would gather experience and additional skills that will benefit them in finding their first employment.
Members of the association organize an annual excursion to the United States of America. Our faculty contributes to the trip with a letter of support from the Dean and other heads of the faculty.
